New Performance Management Program

May 22, 2025

The below message was emailed to staff on 5/22/2025.

Dear staff colleagues,

As staff members, we are part of a community whose mission is to support and educate students to the highest standards of excellence. Our work impacts the life of the community in many ways, including that strong employee performance is a key factor in creating a positive learning environment for our students. And, as announced in President Cadge鈥檚 January town hall, the transformation of our facilities and operating systems is one of our four key areas of strategic focus moving forward.

It is in that spirit that the College is launching a new Performance Management process. This process will support our ongoing effort to promote staff growth and development, align individual and team objectives with our organizational goals, and foster a culture of continuous feedback and improvement that supports our overall College goals.

Performance Management Process

""

Performance Management is a process of aligning employee performance with department and College-wide goals that includes setting goals and expectations, coaching, providing feedback, and rewarding performance. It is an opportunity for self-reflection, redirection, review, and establishing goals through mutual constructive conversation. Effective performance management enhances staff communication and engagement, provides a clear path for growth, and fosters a more fulfilling work experience.

New System Key Features:

  • Goal setting and development planning
  • Employee coaching and development
  • Mid-year performance check-in
  • End-of-year review

2025 Performance Management Cycle Timeline

  • June: Staff completes self-evaluation
  • July: Manager completes evaluation
  • August: Manager and Staff member meet for Year End Review
  • August-September: Staff and Manager complete Performance Goals and Development Planning

The Office of Human Resources will offer sessions to staff and managers in the new performance management process beginning in June with sessions specifically focused on the upcoming year-end reviews. While these sessions are not required, I would highly encourage you to attend.

These two-hour sessions will focus on:

  • the performance management process and your role as an employee/manager
  • the components and importance of the employee self-evaluation
  • how to conduct/participate in the year-end review meeting

Human Resources will be sending out dates and times next week for the upcoming training as well as information on where to locate the new review form (with a separate form specifically for Service Craft staff members) on their site.

For questions regarding upcoming training or this new process, please contact Candace Baer in HR at cbaer@brynmawr.edu or 610-526-5244.

Thank you for your continued dedication and contribution. We鈥檙e excited to take this next step together in building a stronger, more connected workplace.
