An Aeon piece, written by Associate Professor of History Elly Truitt, was cited in The Atlantic article "What is a Robot?"

From the article:

In 10th-century Europe, Emperor Constantine VII apparently had a throne 鈥渇lanked by golden lions that 鈥榞ave a dreadful roar with open mouth and quivering tongue鈥 and switched their tails back and forth,鈥 according to an Aeon essay by Elly Truitt, a medieval historian at 海角社区.

Truitt is also the author of a new book that looks at Medieval robots.
